The Social Security Administration (SSA) utilizes RFID system for enhancing its data center asset management. The inventory of SSA’s IT assets, consisting of mainly servers and monitors, is being automatically recorded with RFID system. This results up to 90% reduction in the amount of labor needed for the traditional counting of the assets.
Additionally, RFID system enhances the data center security when the removed and returned assets are tracked automatically when passing the RFID gate at the door. RFID Global Solution’s Visi-trac is the system in use and the assets are tagged with Confidex Steelwave Micro™ RFID tags.
